CBH & SAA Small Game Program

Since 1970 CBH has used a one of a kind small game program. The important point being that you have learned about this species of pest, game bird, game animal, fish and other species and with your bow arrow have harvested one. With knowledge comes responsibility to wisely use you catch and to be aware of the habitat in which they depend on for space, cover and flood. It is hoped you will then protect this species from unwise use and among your hunting group and promote conservation in your community.

As CBH Small Game Coordinator under the office (Craig Fritz) Big Game Vice President it is my job to register your harvested species and keep a record for you. Awards are given for ten species and every five additional species taken. Thirty-five is Golden Eagle Special award and offered membership in the Golden Eagle Society of small game hunters. There is a fee to cover the cost of special patches and a plaques with your name is awarded. Double Eagle is fifty species. The cost of recording is one dollar per species.

Also available is the "Big Carp" over ten pounds and "Big Tilapia" over three pounds and it cost $2.00 per application. These big fish list are ranked according to weight and are part of the "Big Game Record Book" Look in the March CBH Newsletter for an updated listing. A two year award is given for the largest carp and tilapia taken and registered at the "Big Game Banquet."

My E-mail address is Quilledshaft1@aol.com and it is my intent to keep everyone up to date by monthly articles in CBH Newsletter. This program was designed with the youth in mind to encourage them to study and learn about new species of game and go afield and develop good hunting skills. The CBH Small Game awards is acknowledgment of that success.
